Gold Discovery Run Masters Rankings and Records!

Phew! This is always an ordeal to cut paste and sort the times from the seven or eight age divisions for both men and women, over many years. But here it is (for now), the Gold Discovery new course fastest masters times and age group rankings. The rankings go back to 2002, when the course was changed from Pedro Dome Monument to downtown Fairbanks, to the current course that goes from Fort Knox Gold Mine to Silver Gulch Brewery in Fox.

This year I set a new 55-59 age group record with 1:46:25. Jim Madonna knocked 53 minutes off of the old record in the 75+ age bracket with an excellent 2:27:46. Meanwhile, Matias Saari ran the 5th fastest masters time ever, and he was just doing this as a training run--holding back a bit for next week's Crow Pass Crossing race.

Among the women it was Dorli McWayne's day as she broke the old 60-64 record 29 minutes with a 2:07:46! Just as impressive was Melissa Lewis's new masters record of 1:55:10, not to mention an overall win (and one of the top times ever for women on this course: record is 1:50 by Davya Flarharty).

Anyway, here's a preliminary take. Please let me know if I'm missing someone or if you see a need for some corrections. e.g., I don't know why the men's names are capitalized!!
